A satin silk pocket square, digitally printed with traditional Turkish motifs symbolizing Nicaea.
Nicaea, the first stop of the Anatolian Heritage Collection, gets its name from the ancient city Iznik circa 300 BC. Iznik, home to both Roman and Byzantine works as well as Seljuk and Ottoman artefacts, is a rare city with its cultural and historical heritage. Iznik, also home to four civilizations, was known as Antigoneia in ancient time. In 300 BC, Lysimachus, the commander of the city, renamed the city after his wife Nicaea. In 1331, the city was conquered by Orhan Gazi and finally named Iznik.
